Higham Lane School

Higham Lane North Academy

A new secondary free school following the model of Higham Lane School is set to open in Nuneaton in September 2025!

We are hugely excited that Higham Lane North Academy has entered into the ‘pre-opening phase’ and we are now preparing to open this new non-selective, state-funded 11-16 secondary free school in September 2025.

Higham Lane North Academy is proposed to open with up to six forms of entry (180 places) in Year 7 from September 2025 at a state-of-the-art school and community resource at the new Top Farm neighbourhood in Weddington. It will grow in line with the local need for additional secondary school places until reaching full capacity as a 900-pupil school with 180 pupils in each year group from Year 7 to Year 11.

Established by Central England Academy Trust, Higham Lane North Academy will benefit from fantastic collaboration with its lead school, Higham Lane School, a high-performing 11-18 comprehensive school located approximately one mile away.

It will follow the same successful model for secondary education that has seen Higham Lane School judged as ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in May 2019 and as World Class in 2021, and will continue the tradition of high-quality educational provision, academic excellence, exceptional pastoral care and personal development in a school at the heart of its community. An extended school day, from 8.50am – 4.30pm, four days of the school week, will include a wide choice of compulsory enrichment activities.

We are working closely with the Department for Education and Warwickshire County Council to ensure the successful opening of this exceptional new provision and are looking forward to the journey ahead.
