Congratulations to William in Year 7! William won the U11 Cross country category for the 22/23 season, having a great last season in the U11 age group, and had several top 30 finishes in a very tough West Midlands competition, of over 100 runners. William also won the 2023 U13 track and field category, competing across the summer athletics season in Lower YDL league, and Heart of England League, and ended the season with a U.K. Age ranking with England Athletics for High Jump, ranking an impressive 219th in the U.K. at U13 in his first ever competitive year at the age group, clearing an impressive 1.3m in competition at Daventry. Keep it up!

HLS Mini-Marathon 2.0 It's likely that it will be wet over at Ambleside so you will need wellies or other suitable footwear whether you are running or organising a stall! Stall holders: go the Gym at the start of period 5 (2.15pm). We'll register you there then go over Ambleside to set up. Runners: Years 7 & 8, get changed at the Gym straight after school; all other years, get changed at the Sports Hall. Once you're changed, you can make your way over to Ambleside by using the traffic lights on Higham Lane. The run will go from 4-5pm. All runners will get a certificate and if you can all stick around at the end for a few minutes to help tidy up, that would be greatly appreciated. You can bring cash donations over to Ambleside to put in the charity buckets. See you later to raise lots of money for the amazing Young Lives v Cancer @younglivesvscancer Mr Bottrill, Mr Turley and Miss Connop

A big thank you to Lauren Gregory! Lauren is an ultra marathon runner who came to talk to our Aspire students. For those who don't know, an ultra-marathon is classed as any marathon over 40 miles and Lauren has completed many of these, including the notorious Marathon des Sables, one of the most gruelling races in the world, in which competitors have to complete over 150 miles in 7 days across the Sahara Desert! Lauren's talk was truly inspirational!
