Hat-trick Hero Yakoub Helps Steer Higham Into Final

Higham Lane's Year 8 cricketers produced an excellent team performance to beat Nicholas Chamberlaine School in the semi-final of the District Cup.

Playing with only ten men, they put their opponents in to bat and a string of early wickets soon put Higham in command of the match.

Yakoub Ahmedabadi then produced a fantastic maiden over, taking three wickets in successive balls - a hat-trick - to put Nicholas Chamberlaine on 13-7. They eventually finished 33 all out after 14 overs.

Higham then went in to bat and, after losing an early wicket, captain Armaan Shergill and Matt Chadaway produced a great batting partnership to calmly reach a winning total of 34 in ten overs.

The team is now through to the District Cup final for a second successive year and the boys are ready to defend the title they won in 2013.
